Many people think that the only skin care routine that is needed is to wash your face. This couldn’t be more wrong. Skin care, in order for it to be effective, requires a lot of different steps, some of which are often forgotten about. We’ve listed five skin care routines which we hope will help you get started on proper skin care and everything else you need to know in order to have the best looking skin possible!

1) Washing your face

Facial cleansers are essential when washing your face and should be done at least twice a day with warm water, rubbing gently with circular motions and avoiding trying to pull out acne or scrubbing too hard as this can cause irritation. Try to base your cleanser choice on your skin type. If you have oil-producing skin, then a foaming face wash will help cleanse it and if you have dry skin, then a non-foaming face wash is best. Try to use an exfoliating product as well which will remove dead skin cells and will be needed in order to keep the clogged pores clear and prevent any infection from setting in.

2) Exfoliating

Many people forget about exfoliating, thinking that it’s just necessary for the face. Exfoliating is actually very important and a lot of people forget about doing it for the rest of their bodies such as the chest, back and arms. Exfoliating is a key step in your skin care routine and with regular use can help improve skin appearance by removing dead skin cells from your body which may clog pores or cause other problems. Use an exfoliator once or twice a week on these areas but if you have sensitive skin then only do it once per week or once per month at most.

3) Moisturizing

Taking off that last layer of dead skin cells and exposing your skin to the elements means that one of the most important things you should do is moisturize. Many people think that moisturizers are only for people with dry skin but this is actually not true as even oily skin needs some moisture. Use a light moisturizer on your face every morning and evening and a heavier one at night as this will help seal in moisture while you sleep which will help you wake up looking fresh. Apply the moisturizer to your face and neck as this will prevent any dry patches and keep the skin nice and soft. You can also use a light moisturizer on your body but try to use a heavier one at night to seal in the moisture.

4) Staying out of the sun

Staying out of the sun and wearing as little makeup as possible when possible will help with overall skin health. Those with oily skin should make sure that they wear a hat with sunscreen on their face and those with dry skin should make sure to get a moisturizer which contains both sunscreen and SPF in order to prevent the appearance of wrinkles. Many people also choose to wear less makeup so they can see themselves better during the day but any amount of makeup is better than none if your face can’t handle it.

5) Cleansing your ears and nose

One last thing to look at when it comes to your skin care routine is keeping your ears clean. Sometimes oil can get trapped in the ear and build up, causing a lot of discomfort and discomfort. Try to clean your ears out with water or an ear-cleaning solution 2-3 times per week. If you’ve got a cold or the flu, then this is even more important so take care of any issues which could be brought on by the infection quickly otherwise you’ll end up with sores.

A skin care routine is not simply taking a shower and then putting moisturizer on your face. It’s important that you spend time cleaning your body from top to bottom, using exfoliating products and keeping in mind the effects of the sun on your skin. There’s a lot more to skin care than washing your face and leaving it crunchy and dry.
